Communication and democracy forum tackles youth vote on Sept. 8
Recognizing the importance of the youth vote ahead of the 2022 national elections, the Philippines Communication Society (PCS), in cooperation with the University of the Philippines’ internet TV network, TVUP, is mounting “Bata, Bata Mulat KNB? The Youth Vote in 2022,” the second event of the National Forum on Communication and Democracy: Philippine Elections 2022 series, on Sept. 8, Wednesday, 9 to 11 a.m.
Resource persons for the Zoom discussion include Commission on Elections (Comelec) spokesperson James Jimenez, Philippine Sociology Society President Louie Benedict Ignacio and Philosophical Association of the Philippines President Jeremiah Joven Joaquin.
UP Student Regent Louise Co, Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) Communication Society Caroline Jean Picar, and Jhon Marlou Abcede, president of the PUP youth organization Aspiren, will represent youth voices. Rappler’s Jules Guiang will moderate the forum.
The online roundtable discussion will tackle the youth’s participation in the upcoming elections and the role young voters can play in a democracy. The forum will also talk about how the youth can start political discourses in their own communities and through social media.
The webinar will be broadcast live by TVUP and streamed on the PCS Facebook page.
