Webinar #55 “HELP! Ayaw Magpabakuna ni Lolo at Lola”
Special Topic
Recent evidence shows that only 11% of senior citizens are vaccinated, despite the availability of vaccines. Why is the turnout so low? Is it because of fear of side-effects? Is it fear of lining up too long in the heat? Is it the fear of getting COVID-19 because of crowded vaccination centers? How can we make it easy and convenient for our seniors to get protection against COVID-19?
In this episode of STOP COVID DEATHS, “HELP! Ayaw magpabakuna ni Lolo at Lola”, we will dig deeper into vaccine hesitancy among seniors. Dr. Teodoro J. Herbosa, Special Adviser to the National Task Force on COVID-19 will share the latest data showing low engagement of seniors in vaccination programs. Gerontologist and head of the NIH Institute on Aging, Dr. Shelley Ann F. De la Vega will talk about the inconveniences and struggles that seniors endure to get vaccinated. Former DOH Secretary Dr. Enrique T. Ona, Jr. will provide some reflections on how the system can be improved, while CHED Commissioner Dr. Lilian De Las Llagas will provide the Public Health perspective on how coverage of senior citizens can be improved. In order to provide more insights on why most Filipino Senior Citizens refuse to be vaccinated, the audience is encouraged to share their experiences on vaccination of seniors in their households.
Be part of the solution to the problem of vaccine hesitancy among our seniors. We all have older persons in our lives who really need our support now — so that they can be protected against COVID-19.
Stay Safe. Stay Healthy. Stay Connected. Together we can STOP COVID DEATHS!
