Webinar #54 “COVID sa Pamilya: Hindi pala Ligtas ang Malusog at Nakababata”
Virtual Grand Rounds
As the COVID pandemic continues to rage, entire families are experiencing multiple infections. Nowadays there are reports of young adults developing moderate or severe COVID, when previously it was believed that it is mostly older persons and individuals with pre-existing disease who developed moderate and severe COVID.
At the STOP COVID DEATHS webinar on May 28, Dr. Grace Astudillo, fellow in training for infectious diseases at the Philippine General Hospital, presents the case of a 36 year old healthy male, who is infected with SARSCov2 and developed severe COVID within 28 days of the positive test result. Pulmonologist Dr. Ralph Villalobos will discuss case management, and a reaction from Dr. Anna Guia Limpoco, Board Member of the Philippine Academy of Family Physicians gives a perspective on COVID 19 management and advise for mixed and intergenerational households in the Philippines.
This case underscores the critical importance of vaccination as a measure to prevent household exposures, because it is not only seniors and persons with pre-existing illness who could become severely ill due to COVID-19.
Stay Safe. Stay Healthy. Stay Connected.
