Webinar #90 “COVID-19 NA NAMAN?! Repeat COVID-19 and Long-Term Effects”
Reinfection with SARSCov2 refers to a person being infected, recovered, then reinfected again. Recovery from COVID-19 and vaccination do not seem to prevent reinfection particularly among our frontline workers, who are constantly exposed to patients. How often can reinfection occur? Who is at higher risk of reinfection? Is a reinfection less severe than the previous infection? Which of the different variants cause greater risk for reinfection?
On the other hand, “Long COVID” or Post-COVID conditions may refer to continuing, on-going, recurring, returning or even new symptoms after one has recovered from an infection. What are the symptoms of “Long COVID”? Can it be treated? How long can “Long COVID” last? Can “Long COVID” be fatal? How can one tell if one develops symptoms that this is related to a previous COVID infection or not?
A lot to discuss, a lot more to study and learn. In this episode of STOP COVID DEATHS, two of the leading figures in clinical management of COVID-19 will share their knowledge on reinfections and post-COVID conditions. Dr. Regina P. Berba, Head of the PGH Infection Control Unit and Dr. Camilo C. Roa, Jr., Professor of Medicine, UP PGH will share their knowledge and experience on the topic. UP Diliman Chancellor Fidel Nemenzo who has had repeat infections – will provide the perspective of a patient. Dr. Gerardo Legaspi, PGH Director who has also survived repeat infections will open the webinar on behalf of frontliners, who have had multiple COVID infections. Synthesis and Closing Remarks will be delivered by Dr. Stella Marie L. Jose, Deputy Director for Hospital Operations of PGH.
Join us as we continue to gain understanding of the long-term effects of the pandemic in the episode entitled: “COVID-19 NA NAMAN?! Repeat COVID-19 and Long-Term Effects”
