Webinar #78 “Hospital Design: Nakakatulong ba sa Pandemya?”
Special Topic

As new spikes in cases are seen in the United Kingdom and Singapore, despite high levels of vaccination – our attention is drawn to how we can survive the continuing ups and downs of COVID-19. At the center of the response are our hospitals. Throughout the pandemic, persons with other illnesses that are not related to COVID-19 suffered from delays in consultation, treatment, and surgery. For patients with cancer for example, a delay in surgery could mean growth of a tumor to a point that could make the prognosis worse. For women with complicated pregnancies, seeking frequent maternal care services has been difficult. There is an endless list of how the pandemic forces us to think about how in the long term we can serve patients with infections without compromising or sacrificing other types of medical care that are also desperately needed.

How a hospital organizes its space and uses its sparse resources to achieve its mission requires creativity, innovation, and new ideas. In this episode of STOP COVID DEATHS, PGH Director

Dr. Gerardo “Gap” Legaspi will present the One-Ward Concept designed to contain COVID-19 but enable other services to continue. The design is not merely architectural but also emphasizes the importance of linking up to a service delivery network that is accessible to patients. Dr. Dennis P. Serrano, Medical Director of the St. Luke’s Medical Center Global City will provide the private hospital perspective. Renowned green architect Ma. Luisa Daya-Garcia will discuss the importance of green design not only for pandemics but for long term sustainability and resiliency against the backdrop of extreme weather conditions, floods, droughts, and other effects of increasing surface temperature and climate change.

Join your credible on-line community as we discuss practical ways to make our hospitals more resilient to the current pandemic and future pandemics, as well as the increasing frequency and severity of storms and super typhoons that put our frontliners at risk.

Stay Safe. Stay Healthy. Stay Connected.
Together, we can STOP COVID DEATHS!
