Prof. Rey Carlo Gonzales

Rey Carlo Gonzales finished his BA (History) in UP Visayas-Miagao in 2004. He proceeded to do his MA in History in UP Diliman and graduated in 2007. He taught History courses at UP Visayas-Miagao and UP Visayas-Iloilo between 2007 and 2011.

He finished his PhD in History at the University of Manchester in 2015, and has since returned to teaching at UP Visayas. His specialization lies in the topics of Nationalism, Military History, and Iloilo History. Likewise, he is interested in the subjects of World Religions, Ancient Civilizations, and European Medieval History.

He has done research on the Pulajanes of Passi in Iloilo, Recreational Activities during World War II Iloilo, and Nationalism in Filipino Martial Arts. He is currently a member of the UPV Alumni Community Theatre, the Burlington Society of Manchester, and has been studying Filipino Martial Arts since 2004.
