Prof. Resurreccion Sadaba
Resurreccion Sadaba His body of work includes researches and lectures on mangroves, beach forest and marine mycology. Among his most notable works would be a book he co-authored with JH Primavera titled Beach forest and Mangrove Associates in the Philippines (2012) and Handbook of Mangroves in the Philippines (2004) both received the Outstanding Book Award for 2013 and 2005, respectively, from the National Academy of Science and Technology (NAST). In 2016, he co-authored another book titled Mangroves and Beach Forest Species in the Philippines.
He has also made a distinctive mark in the academe, garnering innumerable citations such as the 2018 Chancellor’s Award for Most Outstanding Faculty (Professor Level), 2011 Chancellor’s Award for Outstanding Achievement in Research, 2010 Chancellor’s Award for Most Outstanding Faculty (Associate Professor Level). In 2014, he won the prestigious Metrobank Foundation’s Search for 10 Outstanding Teachers of the Philippines (Higher Education level). He was Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, UP Visayas from October 2014- October 2017. Dr. Sadaba finished his B.S. Natural Sciences (Major in Zoology, Minor in Botany, Cognate in Fisheries) at the University of the Philippines Visayas; his M.S. Environmental Studies at the University of the Philippines Los Banos; and his Ph.D. in Botany (Marine Mycology) at the University of Hong Kong.
