Tungkol ang pelikulang ito sa pagkilala at pag-alala ng isang batang babae sa kanyang LOLA LOLENG – isang mampaparol, malayong kamag-anak, at matandang nag-uulyanin na. Sa proseso ng pagkilalang ito ay marami siyang malalaman ukol sa nakaraan ng matanda, kabilang na ang pinakamapapait nitong alaala bilang babae at Pilipina na dinulot ng digmaan.
Nais galugarin ng pelikula ang tambalan ng paggunita at paglimot sa konteksto ng personal at ng pambansang kamalayan. Gamit ang mga teorya ng Feminismo, Post- Kolonyalismo, Psychoanalysis, at Semiotics, gusto ring talakayin dito ng filmmaker ang papel ng kababaihan sa kasaysayan ng bansa, kung paanong ang kalupitang dinanas nila sa panahon ng digmaan ay buhat ng tunggalian ng mga naghaharing uri sa lipunan, at kung paano ring ang mga kabuktutang ito ay tila nalimutan na ng nakararaming Pilipino sa kasalukuyan. Ang pakikipagsagupa natin bilang isang bayan ay pakikipagsagupa rin natin laban sa tuluyang paglimot sa sarili nating kasaysayan.
CHE TAGYAMON is a 22-year old filmmaker and animator from Taguig, Philippines. In 2016, she graduated from the University of the Philippines Film Institute. Her graduation film, Lola Loleng, has been screened in various local and international film festivals, which include the Singapore International Film Festival, Fajr Fil Festival in Iran, and the 2017 Cinemalaya to name a few.
MAIKLING PELIKULA is a program featuring outstanding and award-winning short films. Likewise to be featured will be a discussion and annotation by the director-filmmaker. The program will highlight the experimental and narrative genres of film.
