THE MATH BEHIND ARTS AND HUMANITIES
Dr. Alleli Domingo

Dr. Alleli Ester C. Domingo is an Associate Professor at the Institute of Mathematical Sciences and Physics, College of Arts and Sciences, University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB). She obtained her BS Applied Mathematics from UPLB (cum laude) and MSc in Mathematics from Melbourne University, Australia.

She received the 2004 UPLB Outstanding Teacher Award for the Physical Sciences, the 2009 College of Arts and Sciences Distinguished Alumni Award for Teaching and the 2011 UP System Alumni Association Distinguished Alumni Award in Education Innovation. She is an honoree of Bato Balani Foundation’s “The Many Faces of the Teacher 2015”; a finalist, Metrobank Outstanding Teacher 2011 and finalist, UP Gawad Pangulo for Progressive Teaching 2015.

She chaired the UPLB committee on education paradigm shift, which looked into innovations for effective teaching and learning.

She conducts seminar-workshops for elementary, high school, and college teachers all over the Philippines. She serves as textbook evaluator for the Instructional Materials Council Secretariat of the Department of Education. She is the immediate past president of the Operations Research Society of the Philippines.

Aside from being an advocate of mother tongue-based multi-lingual education and the ancient Filipino syllabary Baybayin , she has been involved also as Program Development Associate in a unique endeavor of the UPLB College of Arts and Sciences to promote the fusion of science and the arts. She is also the Coordinator of the National Service Training Program (NSTP) for the College of Arts and Sciences, UPLB.
